US Area Code List

There are 374 active area codes across the United States. You can filter by state or time zone, or search by city. The list above includes all area codes. Most of them are located in the United States. However, many are also found in the Caribbean and the Pacific. The original 86 area codes created in 1947 covered most of the US, but the numbering system has expanded over the years. This system allows callers to make long-distance calls to any other calling area without the need for an operator.
