History
Creation: Area code 767 was assigned to the Commonwealth of Dominica and went into service on October 1, 1997, as the 218th area code in the NANP and one of 43 codes introduced that year. It was carved out of the shared Caribbean area code 809 to give Dominica country-specific numbering resources. The digits 7-6-7 spell ‘ROS’ on a telephone keypad, a mnemonic for Roseau, Dominica's capital. A permissive dialing period ended September 30, 1998.
