Until it launches, start with the area code
Most of the time, the thing you want to know about an unknown number is where it came from. The area code answers that today. Type the first three digits into our directory and you get the primary city the code covers, the state it belongs to, the local time there, and whether it shares its region with an overlay code.
That won’t hand you a caller’s name, which is the part reverse lookup will add. But it’s usually enough to decide whether a call is worth returning.
