History
Creation: Area code 441 was the first Caribbean-region NPA to be split off from the original area code 809, going into service on October 1, 1995, as the 160th area code in the NANP. Bermuda had requested an individual code on November 16, 1994, beginning the wave of country-specific assignments that ultimately dismantled the unified 809 NPA. A permissive dialing period for 809 continued until September 30, 1996.
